25 years of history unveiled

A time capsule that was buried 25 years ago behind a wall of clay tiles at the Pakenham Campus Junior School was officially unveiled on 7 September.

The dusty white box marked ‘Time Capsule 28/5/1998’ revealed a treasure trove of items; from students’ messages and drawings, to old family photographs and College mementos. Even a 1998 College canteen list was placed in there (sausage rolls were $1 and Sunny Boys 50 cents).

It was a momentous and thrilling event for Junior School students. After the official extraction of the box was live-streamed for all to see, the lid was removed in the Junior School quadrangle in a ceremony with students, alumni who helped create the time capsule, as well as former and current staff.
