Alumni Breakfast Series gains momentum

Our Alumni Breakfast Series events are gaining momentum with two fascinating speakers sharing their pathways in science and medicine with students, staff and parents at Pakenham Campus this morning.

Dr Lauren Macreadie (Class of 2005), who has a PhD in chemistry, spoke of her groundbreaking work investigating how porous materials can be used to solve key energy questions around hydrogen storage and transport.

Dr Leaha-Marie Hill-Buxton (Class of 2010) is an orthopaedic surgeon who shared her passion for medicine and the challenges and delights of juggling a career and parenthood.

Both speakers reminded students that there was more than one road to a future career, and to not fear ‘changing lanes’ along the way.

MC for the event was Wendy Prendergast, who is the Pakenham Campus Head of Science (5-12). The breakfast was a great success and left plenty of food for thought for our students.

The final Alumni Breakfast Series event is on 23 August at the Berwick Campus and has a health and wellbeing theme.
